So it looks as if MechWarrior Tactics is now going into the "Friends and family" closed beta phase. They are going to send out invites to people based on their subscription to their temporary forums. Not sure if that means all people or just a few. Either way sign up for a chance if you are interested. [More]

Disclaimer: My reviews can sometimes spoil the plot, so if you are interested in reading this series, I would suggest you read it.

So the Jihad continues. Some of the most bloody fighting in human history is going on. Mercenaries are being slaughtered and planets are getting so destroyed they can no longer sustain life. There are few planets in the Battletech universe that are unaffected and the carnage continues in this update.

The opening story is the Manei Domini taking over the manufacturing world of Gibson in House Marik’s domain. The world offers little in the way of opposition and the Hand of the Master set up shop on this rock. This seems to be the start of the fracture inside the high command of the Word of Blake between Apollyon and St. Jamais, or the Manei Domini and the Blake Protectorate forces. In my opinion, this division helps cement the end of the Word of Blake as a faction in the Inner Sphere. [More]

NOTE: My reviews can sometimes reveal spoilers. So read with care if you care.

The first thing you need to know about this book is that is really two books in one. Dawn of the Jihad and Jihad Hot Spots: 3070 were originally published by Fanpro and have been re-packaged in this by Catalyst Game Labs. [More]

So if you have followed the Jihad up to this point you are familiar with all the destruction the Word of Blake has brought to the Inner Sphere. With that said you get a peek into the behind the scenes into the workings and a little of the reasoning behind what they are visiting upon the universe. Since I read this book out of order in the Jihad plotline, I can tell you that it behooves you to read these in order. Just a suggestion, take it or leave it. [More]

This book was a huge read. Very good to read and I enjoyed the way it was written and the way it evened things out. For me, the jury is still out on whether the resetting of the universe is a good thing or not. [More]

I am not sure why they called this a starter book, because the technology they use is this is pretty advanced. This module is more like a beginner campaign sourcebook, not really a starter for new players. The sourcebook uses the Chaos Campaign concept to help balance the campaign and give it some longevity. The Chaos Campaign concept also gives both sides the capability to tell their stories, and even lets the players play both sides against each other. All this coupled with the knowledge that if they do not perform well the campaign could be cut short due to lack of war chest points really bring this system to life. [More]

So I picked up this sourcebook from Catalyst. If you know me you know I love Battletech very much, and this has done nothing but stoke that fire. Operation Klondike was Nicolas Kerensky’s 800 warriors, that would become the foundation of the clans, taking the Pentagon Worlds. How they overcame adversity in the face of what could have been their extinction or their version of the Succession Wars. [More]
