For the last several months I have been reading on DVice and they have been very interested in what the Army and other armies have been up too. It seems that the military, as always, have been busy updating their technology. It is interesting to see all the things they are trying to make work. I have gathered a few of them here and will highlight six of them. [More]

Ok, now Canada has forced thru law that cable companies allow users to buy channels that they want. Now this means that “Cooking with Left Handed but Left Brained chefs while antiquing” will not be bought as a channel, but who cares? Our government mandates that certain channels have to be shown on cable, so the American government actually forces us to spend more money. I am sure it is not only government control that is causing problems, I am sure the content providers are pushing many things down the throat of the cable companies. I don’t feel that bad for them since they are still making profit. [More]

Recently friends of mine were playing a cool roleplaying game called Mutants and Masterminds. Great Pen and Paper game that you get to play superheroes. And a few of us wanted a Moon base. Now this was not a universally accepted idea. Some people thought it was a stupid idea to have a moon base, but I was convinced it was the height of superherodom to have a moon base. So we worked it out and had a moon base built by the American tax payers. America, @#!&^ YEAH!!!!! [More]

So there you are on the phone with a friend or a family member and you are trying to walk them thru something computer related because you are the “computer guy” or you just “understand these things”. You have been explaining things for the last hour and you explain something and the other person on the phone says something like, “Nope, it doesn’t look like a red X, it looks like a green circle with an arrow.” You are looking at your screen and there is the red X, but they refuse to see what you see, and no amount of cajoling and different verbal angles gets that red X to be seen by your user. At that point you start to think you would be better off if you took the pen in your hand and stabbing it thru your eye and hopefully piercing your frontal lobe. [More]

It seems that Google is preparing to get Android 3.0 up and running soon. With this new Android OS, it will be optimized for tablets (finally!). They are (as of the 26th of January) releasing the SDK (Software Developer Kit) so that third party developers can start optimizing their applications to the new OS. The main highlights to MobileCrunch are the Persistent Action Bar and Activity Fragments. These two items are for developers to better control the user experience, while keeping consistency in the overall look and feel of applications on the Android OS. [More]
