Solar panels in the Sahara Desert to power Europe in 5 years

Solar farms in the desert, who would have thought.  We are seeing a ton of them getting done.  California is putting one in the Mojave. Now Europe is putting one in the Sahara.  I find the next tidbit very interesting for power consumption:

If a mere 1% of the Sahara Desert were covered in solar panels, enough energy would be generated to power the entire world. That's a lot of potential energy! So it only makes sense that just such a solar field is being built.

Let’s hope this continues to grow as a trend.  What a funny story it would be, if the Arabic nations took all that money they have from oil and made solar farms so they could continue to supply the world with energy. We will see.
