Kotaku has an interesting article on the case that California is trying to get heard in the Supreme Court about whether they can make it illegal to sell Mature video games to children. I am on the fence about this. I am not that worried if this gets put into place, except, who is going to pay for it? Taxpayers. I would like to think that I as a parent (and I know, I am not) would still see this as my job to protect and inform my children about this, not the State’s or the Federal Government’s job. Again I am on the fence. I know it will not impact me directly, but feel that it still could be construed as an infringement on rights. I still don’t think we should give up liberties and responsibility for safety.
[UPDATE] Also noted this article on G4TV about how Connecticut is joining California and 9 other states in this legislation. I guess people think this is a hot topic.
