I have liked Ansel Adams for years now. I am not 100% sure when I started liking him, but I do remember enjoying his work immensely. It was always wonderful to go up and visit family in Yosemite and see the wonderful landscapes he captured on film for real. He did such a good job of capturing the essence of the subject. Maybe I am just odd that way.
Well it seems some guy found glass prints at a garage sale that he bought for $45, that have turned out to be Ansel Adams early work valued at over $200 million dollars. Nice garage sale find. Seems these 60 odd prints were thought lost in a fire. I wonder how they ended up in a garage sale. The one cool thing I liked in reading this article was that the guy who found them and had them authenticated (you know, the one who is rich) did try to find the people that actually sold it to him. Not sure if it was to brag or cut them into a share.
They are terming this work as his transitioning early work, before he became the master that we all know and love. I hope that I can buy a poster of some of the shots, they are excellent.
