Fan made Batman movie

G4TV.com had an article on this a couple of weeks back.  I finally got a chance to watch the whole thing and I liked it. It is 30 minutes long so clear some good time to watch it, but it is worth watching.

When I was younger I helped out a couple of people in independent film making, and from that experience I can tell you this is excellent work.  The stuff they did was spot on.  It captured the feel of Batman, but also didn’t look too cheap.  Money is always a concern when dealing with these films as everything costs money, and if you don’t pay attention it can run up a bill quick.

The main characters are Batman, played well by Kevin Porter, and Joker, played by Paul Molnar.  They did a very good job, as its difficult to play those two characters since they have been played many times by great actors and the audience might already associate with those other actors.  Kudos to these guys for stepping up and giving a good performance.

The production value of the film is wonderful. They keep a good eye to the Batman mythos while picking several diverse locations.  I read it shot for 21 days, makes sense with all the locations in the film itself (unless I missed green screens, which is possible).

I felt the story was good too.  IMHO Batman’s stories have traditionally not been deep, but with the new stories we are seeing a much greater depth than before.  The one exception I MUST make is Frank Miller’s Batman.  He brought Batman back from Adam West in tights.

Overall I liked this short film and would recommend you check it out.

Enjoy.
