From DARPA creating them for warfare, the Air Force using them to fly planes to robots used to wash patients in the hospital, no one can deny that robots are playing a larger role in our lives as each day pass. In this article I have linked a few articles that showcase how robots are being used today (and possibly the future).
Robo-Maverick
The Air Force wants to turn their fighter planes essentially into drones. I am not sure that a fat nerd like me should be home dog fighting and bombing soldiers in Afghanistan from my couch or office at home. I fear the physiological distance we may present to those that will be fighting our wars wirelessly. I feel that war has to be messy, it has to be dirty and awful. That way more people will NOT want to do it. I may be naïve in this thought, but leave that distance for video games and not for real life.

Robo-Warrior?
This robot looks harmless. More like a butler or nanny. It can take commands, and be pointed in the right direction. So more of dog, not soldier. I guess it could be taught to kill.
This article surmises that man will let robots fight our wars. I think they will, but they will not circumvent the horrors of war so conveniently. I think they will just be another weapon in our arsenal against life.

Booth Bot

The quote says it all. Robots with guns are as attractive as women with guns. Well actually, women in general bring people to booths. Or just women are attractive. Sorry what were we talking about?

Wet Nurse
Well, here we go. We have a robot to give you a sponge bath. I don’t know what to say. More soap please?
While the article below suggests that this will put nurses out of work, I disagree. Think of it this way, would you trust that machine to put a thermometer in your mouth? Or other sensitive areas? I think not!

Robotic Lifeguard
You have to see this thing. It looks like a remote control boat with a life preserver over it. They call EMILY, but… really. If it saves people, perfect. Also you can check out Gizmodo’s video, pretty funny.

Google car
The article asks whether you would ride in this car. I am not sure that I would. I like where it is going, but I am not sure I can handle letting go like that. Hell, I have a hard time when my wife drives, and she is a much better driver than I am. So how do I trust a computer and a car to react and drive me around? It would be cool to watch a movie while my car took me to work. I could writer more on this blog. Who knows if the rest of the country would accept it either.

Tiny Robot Cockroaches
Hard to believe someone would sell these. I understand the allure for making them as a challenge and the whole creation gig, but to want them and collect them? No.

Aliens loader, sort of

We all knew things like this would be coming. With Japan’s aging populace this was bound to happen. With general trends this was bound to happen. So it is nice to see things like this coming out.
