Underwater radio?

Did you know sea water can be used to transmit radio signals?

Seems the people at SPAWAR (always a interesting jumble of sounds to pronounce) are working on a transmitting radio signals using jets of sea water. It is interesting that we are melding our technology with our environment in ways that are hard to understand.  I am not at all sure how this all works, but it has to do with the length (or height) of the water jet.  Wild to say the least.  I wonder how you are going to intercept specific messages if everyone starts using it?
