Tale of 3 beers

So last week I mourned the loss of my Product Owner title the old fashioned way, I drank.  So to mourn correctly I went to Pizza Port Bottles and bought some great beer.  Here are the 3 that stood out like that ray of sunlight on a rainy day.

1. Harviestoun OIa Dubh 18 – Harviestoun Brewery, Clackmannanshire UK – Hard to explain.  This is Ale that is matured in a whisky cask.  It is a dark liquid that has a very unique taste.  It has been aged 18 years. It is light and very flavorful to the palette. Burnt notes and tastes, and it is not that too hoppy as my friends like to think that is all I drink.    I have the 30 year aged ale in the fridge for this weekend.  It comes in a box. Oh my.

2. Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale – Stone Brewery, Escondido, CA, USA – This is outstanding ale.  You get the normal hoppy tastes that fill your mouth, but there is a very fruity taste to it.  I LOVED THIS.

3. Highway 78 Scotch Ale – Stone Brewery, Escondido, CA, USA & Green Flash Brewing, Vista, CA, USA & Pizza Port Carlsbad, Carlsbad, CA, USA – This is a great scotch ale.  I had not had one of these before.  It is smooth and full bodied. I found this like a smoother brown ale like Newcastle.

I will say that if you cannot tell from my reviews, I am NOT a professional taster.  My palette is not that refined.  With that caveat defined, I will say I know what I like, and I love these beers.  The Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale is the best of the three, but there is no shame in coming in under that beer as it is high water mark.

So, that all that said, I would suggest you all go out and find these beers and try them.
